Completely Love God and Others Like Jesus Loves You
Introduction: In my Book “The Forgotten Commandment,” I go into detail concerning the matter
of loving one another like Christ has loved us and how this matter of loving
one another is the Purpose of God. Theologians for many years have clearly
declared that loving God and loving one another is The Great Commandment. Jesus
makes this clear in the gospels like Matthew 22:34-40 and John 15:12 for two
examples. As this is the Great Commandment, if we are not giving ourselves to
this then we are in deep sin and the ability to release and maintain the
abundant life is impossible! Learning to love God and one another is essential
for the abundant life to be flowing in our lives. Realize that these two are
actually two sides of one coin. 1 John 4:20-21. The way we show our love for
God is by loving one another! Let’s consider this factor closely.
I. Loving God
2. Weare to love God with all of our soul. The “soul” is the core of our being. This
has to do with our real identity.
(1) Thevery center of who I’ve been changed to be, who I am in Christ.
(2) Theprimary focus of my life, what I desire and want to be because Christ has
changed who I am
(3) The solid concrete of the foundationof my life on which I build my life on, establish my priorities and
expectations for life on, and remain committed to regardless of any
circumstances and situations in life.
3. Weare to love God with all of our mind. This is the center of my thinking. This is my intellectualthoughts and reasoning, my understanding even as it grows, my knowledge,
wisdom, and insight.
4. Weare to love God with all of our strength. This is the basis of my power.
(1) Myabilities and capabilities focused on serving the Lord.
(2) Submittingto God so He is directing and controlling my activities and as He is bigger
than me, able to deal with any situations.
(3) Notgiving in or giving up, sticking in there, and staying the course
